Albert Lee Wright Jr. Memorial Migrant Scholarship

Purpose: "To honor a migrant farm worker student who has overcome barriers presented by mobility, who has performed strongly academically, and who has provided service to his or her community. NASDME intends this $3,000 scholarship to go to a mobile student or students who have attended more than one school in a year and/or who have traveled on their own or with a parent or guardian in pursuit of qualifying agricultural or agriculture-related work in the summer or regular school term. Students who have not moved will not be considered for this scholarship. Scholarships will be given only to graduating high school students entering college for the first time."

The following information must be included in the application:

Two letters of recommendation, at least one of which must be from a school, community or educational agency representative with a personal knowledge of the applicant’s character;
A personal essay of at least 500 words telling about the applicant’s background (which includes information about disrupted schooling and barriers presented because of agriculture/fishing-related mobility) and career and personal goals, and indicating why he or she should receive this assistance;
A copy of a high school transcript showing the most recent grades obtained;
Proof of acceptance and/or enrollment at a post-secondary degree-granting institution. If acceptance is pending, applicant MUST keep the committee informed by e-mail ([email protected]) regarding acceptance as soon as it is received;
Financial need documentation in the form of, but not limited to, a copy of the most recent school financial aid form, loan documentation, family tax return (include only the first two pages); or other letter from an institution documenting financial aid; or, if these are unavailable, a descriptive narrative regarding the family’s financial need;
Proof of Migrant Education eligibility – (Attach a legible and clear copy of a "Certificate of Eligibility" showing qualification during the past three calendar years or any time during high school). This can be obtained from a local school district through the migrant education staff.

John & Olive Adams Scholarship

The John and Olive Adams Scholarship Foundation awards scholarships to qualifying students who plan to further their education at College of Eastern Idaho before transferring to an accredited Idaho State College or University. Seniors only.

Criteria: the recipient must qualify under at least one of the following:

Top 20% of their graduating class;

A minimum of 24 on the ACT Test or 1110 on the SAT or an equivalent score on the institutions entrance exam.

GPA of 3.5 or higher

The scholarship is limited to students who plan to study in the broad fields of either physical science or social science.

Preference will be given to students who have demonstrated financial need.

The recipient must attend College of Eastern Idaho before transferring to an Idaho State sponsored university or technical school which is accredited by the Northwest Association of Schools and Colleges

Applicants must submit the following (please type or print):

1. A complete application signed by the applicant.

2. An official high school transcript which includes at least the first term of the senior year.

3. Two letters of recommendation. One must be from a school official.

4. A personal statement no more than 2 pages double spaced addressing the following:

A.What are your educational goals and how will this scholarship help you attain them?

B. Why did you choose College of Eastern Idaho and the college you'll transfer to for your education?

C. How will your education contribute positively to your potential employment and the community at large?

D. Describe any school clubs, extracurricular activities, community service, etc. that you have been involved in.

E. Please provide additional information that you would like the Selection Committee to consider, including need.

5. The name and address of both schools you intend to attend.

American College Foundation Scholarship

The ACF Visionary Scholarships are available to all high school students grades 9 – 12 and range from $1,000 to $5,000 one-time awards. AXA Achievement Scholarships-Seniors only

52 students will each receive a $10,000 state scholarship. One recipient will be selected from each U.S. state the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico. From among these 52 recipients, 10 will be selected to receive an additional $15,000 scholarship. Approximately 300 additional scholarships will be awarded each year in the amount of $2,500 each to graduating seniors. Community Council of Idaho Scholarships.

Community Council of Idaho is sponsoring two scholarships this year.

The first scholarship is the 2020 Idaho AgFest Scholarship, which is available to Idaho students who work (or whose parents work) in agriculture or in ag related businesses. Applicants must be residents of Idaho and have a minimum GPA of 2.5. This application is due May 22, 2020, and the applications is available online.

The second scholarship is the Community Council of Idaho Hispanic Scholarship, which is available to Hispanic students. The student must have a minimum GPA of 2.5 and plan to pursue an academic major in college.

Far West Agribusiness Association Scholarship for 2020

Any full-time student from Washington, Idaho, Oregon, Utah, or Nevada, who is pursuing an undergraduate degree from a college or university in the United States is eligible to apply. The Far West Agribusiness Association scholarship program has been designed to provide outstanding high school and collegiate undergraduate students with a chance to pursue their educational goals in college. Joe Foster Memorial Scholarship

Joe Foster taught at North Fremont for 29 years. Joe was a wonderful man and a wonderful teacher. He was also the "Voice of the Huskies" at sporting events. Teaching was his life's work, and he loved being a "Husky." Joe enjoyed his interactions with his students, and when called upon to deliver speeches at graduation, Joe always said the following:

This $500 scholarship is awarded to a student planning a career in public service. The student chooses from the following essay questions/prompts and submits a typed, one page minimum, three page maximum, double spaced response.

Foundation for Rural Service Scholarships

Fremont Telcom and its parent company, Blackfoot Telecommunications Group, in partnership with The Foundation for Rural Service (FRS) offers an annual college scholarship program to help further higher education among rural youth. FRS awards a one-time $2,500 scholarships to students from rural America for their first year of college, university or vocational-technical school. Each student is sponsored by an NTCA member company. FRS funds $2,000 of each scholarship, and the sponsoring company awards the remaining $500.The FRS College Scholarship Program seeks to encourage students to return to their rural communities upon completing their education.

The Foundation for Rural Service is also proud to announce the creation of four new scholarships funded by Manny and Leo Staurulakis, of JSI, in honor of their parents John and Chresanthe Staurulakis and to celebrate 50 years of service to the rural telephone industry. The FRS Starulakis Family Scholarships will provide four $5,000 awards and will give preference to students with an interest in science, math, medicine, or engineering. Students with a focus in the sciences will be automatically considered for these new Staurulakis Family Scholarships.

In addition, the following scholarships will also be awarded:

two students per year who are customers of any NTCA member company will receive $1,500 TMS scholarships.

$1,500 scholarship. This scholarship is given in memory of the Gifford family. This scholarship is meant to preserve the memory of Alois and Marie Goldmann and others who died in the Holocaust. For the 2018-2019 academic year, the scholarship amount is approximately $1,000. The Greater Teton Management Society (GTMS) is excited to offer two $1,500 scholarships to high school seniors residing in Southeast Idaho and Western Wyoming. We feel it is an honor to provide financial assistance to seniors who are looking to advance their education beyond high school.

There are two scholarships available. You may apply for both scholarships; however, you are only eligible to receive one scholarship.
Each opportunity requires you to write an essay response to one of the following ethical dilemmas:

1. Real World Dilemma

Read and respond to a case study entitled “Goodhealth Drug Company” (see Mr. Law for a copy).

2. Personal Dilemma

Tell us about a personal experience where you have faced an ethical dilemma. What was the dilemma? What choices did this dilemma require you to choose between? What choice did you make? Why? There is a 1500 word limit and the essay must be typed.

At the top of your essay, use a title to identify which dilemma you are writing about (i.e.‘Personal’ or ’Real World’). DO NOT include your name on your essays; instead, attach your completed essay or essays to the completed and signed Application and Instruction Form and mail to the following address:

Hispanic Scholarship Fund

The Hispanic Scholarship Fund offers many different scholarships to Hispanic and Latino students. The HSF General College Scholarship application must be completed online; it has a deadline of February 15th. Many other scholarships are also available on the HSF website, with varying application deadlines. The following eligibility requirements (which were taken from the HSF website) apply to most of the scholarships that HSF administers:

Idaho Farm Bureau Scholarships

These Scholarships are available at the state level to graduating seniors whose families are members of the Idaho Farm Bureau. A total of eight scholarships will be awarded in 2020, with four $1,000 scholarships being awarded to students in non-ag related fields of study and four $1,500 scholarships being awarded to students in ag-related fields of study. The Fremont County Farm Bureau Federation is also sponsoring a Scholarship entitled the "Farm to Fork" Scholarship.

The application for this scholarship is available in the counseling office. This scholarship is available to anyone choosing to major in an Ag-related field of study.

Recipients of this scholarship are required to answer the following questions as part of the application process:

1. Why is a college or post secondary education important for a career in agriculture?

2.  Is a college degree or post-secondary education necessary if you are coming back home to run the family farm? (Please explain if yes or no).

3. Tell us a little bit about the farm or ranch that you grew up on.

4. In 200 words or less explain your career choice in agriculture and how a degree would help you support your future family and be an advocate for agriculture?

The completed application must be received at the St. Anthony Farm Bureau office located at 700 North Bridge Street on or before April 27, 2020. The Saint Anthony Farm Bureau office closes at 5:00 p.m. on that day, and the scholarship must arrive prior to that time.

Idaho State Snowmobile Association Scholarship

The Idaho State Snowmobile Association Scholarship Application for the 2019 competition must be postmarked no later than March 31, 2019. No late applications will be accepted.

Eligibility Requirements - Please check each item to ensure that your application is complete.

1. Proof of ISSA affiliation and/or membership.

A. ISSA member's name, address and relationship to you (ISSA membership is required).

B. Eligible contestants may be one of the following: (1) ISSA member in your own name. (2) a dependent child of parent(s) that are ISSA members (3) Living with grandparents that are ISSA Members (4) a foster child under a state approved program living with foster parents who are ISSA members. You must show proper documentation.

Essay Topic: With so much new technology in the Snowmobile / Snow Bike / Winter Motorized industry, we are going places we never imagined 50 years ago. Consequently, some are going places they are not supposed to go. We have a trespassing problem i.e. wilderness, wildlife winter range, private and non-motorized areas. Although these are “Rogue Events”, it affects everyone. The end result is “Trail and Area Closures”. That said, even though we were not the offender, we need to come up with and incorporate solutions to the problem at hand.

Essay Challenge: Below is a list of traditional methods that have been used in the past to attempt to solve the problem. Please expound on each one by sharing your thoughts, both the Pros and Cons. Now, share with us some brand new ideas that will help minimize these incursions and keep our trails and areas open for the next generations to come.

Four year scholarships of up to $7,500 per year. Criteria: The applicant must be a graduating, minority high school senior who plans to earn a four year college degree. Applicant must show leadership potential, demonstrate a dedication to community service, present evidence of financial need, be a U.S. citizen, and have a minimum score of 1,000 combined on the math and reading sections of the SAT test or a composite score of at least 21 on the ACT test. Julie Atchley Memorial Scholarship

2 $1,000 Scholarships for graduating seniors!

Julie Atchley was born and raised in Ashton. She was a delightful student who was involved in many activities and was the North Fremont student body president her senior year. She was tragically killed in an auto accident several years after graduating, and these scholarships are in her memory. The students who are selected for these awards must have a 4-year cumulative GPA of between 2.0 and 3.2. Students may apply for these scholarships by submitting a short essay (approximately 250 words) describing themselves, how they chose their school for advanced study, and their preferred field of study. Kurt and Genola Kandler Scholarship

The Kurt and Genola Kandler Scholarship is available to graduates of North Fremont starting with the graduating class of 2014! Recipients of this scholarship must plan to enroll as a full-time student in an accredited public or private junior college, college, university, vocational or technical school. The applicant must also demonstrate academic merit and ability and have a strong desire to further their education; They must possess good work and study habits. The student's financial need combined with their willingness to work to cover tuition costs will also be taken into account, as will the social and public benefits of the student's intended course of study. Whether or not the student plans to return to Ashton after graduation will also be considered. The following requirements are part of the application process:

Fill out the application. (Available in the North Fremont counseling office).

Write a 300 word essay expressing the applicant's educational career goals and objectives.

Provide a copy of the applicant's most recent North Fremont High School transcript.

Submit a current resume'.

Submit two letters of recommendation. They may not be from a relative or a North Fremont staff member. Provide the name of a North Fremont High School teacher who has agreed to act as a reference.

Turn in a copy of the Free Application for Federal Student Aide (FAFSA) Report and/or

Write a brief statement explaining your family's current socio-economic and financial situation, including the number of siblings, number of siblings currently in college, and any other pertinent financial information that you believe qualify you to receive this scholarship.

The family and friends of Lisa Miller will award 1 $250 scholarship to a North Fremont graduating senior who Never Gives Up. This characteristic may be displayed in athletics, in academics, or in the personal life of the scholarship recipient. In order to identify the graduating senior who best exemplifies this determination to Never Give Up, the scholarship committee is asking for nominations. Anyone interested in nominating a member of the North Fremont graduating class should pick up a nomination form from the counseling office at North Fremont High School. The form must be completed by someone other than the graduate, and it should contain examples of how the person being nominated has faced challenges in life without giving up. Completed nomination forms must be submitted to the guidance counselor of North Fremont on or before March 15, 2019. This is a great opportunity to recognize one of our courageous graduates as well as remembering Lisa Miller, who was an inspiration, because She Never Gave Up!

Northwest Farm Credit Services Scholarships

There are three different scholarship programs administered by Northwest Farm Credit Services. The first one is for graduating seniors and the next two are available to you after you begin attending college. Please read the following descriptions to learn more about each scholarship:

The Customer Scholarships are $2,000 scholarships available to seniors whose parents are customers of the Farm Credit Services organization. This scholarship is also available to students whose parents work for a farmer who is a customer of Farm Credit Services. Any career or major is eligible for college applicants. Scholarship winners will be selected based on school and community involvement, scholastic performance, educational goals, and financial needs.

Minority Scholarships who are attending an accredited four-year university and are members of one of the following ethnic minority groups: African American or Black, American Indian or Alaska Native, Asian, Latino/Hispanic, or Pacific Islander. Four $2,000 scholarships will be awarded based on the following criteria:

Be attending an accredited four-year university located in Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, Alaska or Utah.

Be a U.S. citizen or legal resident of the United States.

Be of sophomore standing or higher, and enrolled full time (12 or more credits).

Have a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.

Be pursuing a degree in one of the following areas of study: Business, Accounting/Finance, Agricultural Business/Finance or Economics.

The Land Grant Scholarships are for full-time undergraduate college students who are seeking degrees in Agribusiness Management, Agriculture Economics, Agriculture Business/Finance or a related field of study at designated land grant universities. Eight $2,000 scholarships will be awarded to university students currently attending the following universities:

University of Idaho

Washington State University

Montana state University

Oregon State University

In addition to these criteria, the student must also:

Be a U.S. citizen or legal resident of the United States.

Be of sophomore standing or higher, and enrolled full time (12 or more credits).

Have a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.

Armed Forces / Public Safety Officer Scholarship

This scholarship provides a waiver of fees plus up to $500 per semester for books in addition to on-campus housing and subsistence to: The spouse or children of Idaho citizens determined by the federal government to have been prisoners of war, missing in action or killed in action or died of injuries or wounds sustained in any area of armed conflict in which the United States is a party; OR Any spouse or child of a full-time or part-time public safety officer (peace officer or firefighter, paramedic or EMT), employed by or volunteering for the state of Idaho or for a political subdivision of the state of Idaho, which public safety officer is or was a resident of the state of Idaho at the time such officer was killed or totally and permanently disabled in the line of duty as determined by the United States social security administration. The death or disability shall have occurred on or after January 1, 1975. Teton Regional Land Trust Scholarship Michael B. Whitfield Scholarship

The Teton Regional Land Trust has created a $1,000 scholarship in honor of Michael B. Whitfield, who helped found the organization and served as its Executive Director for 18 years. Students interested in this scholarship must pursue a major course of study in environmental science, biology, ecology, environmental planning or policy, agriculture, or a related field. This scholarship may be used to fund technical school training as well as college studies. The applicant must write an essay explaining their philosophy regarding environmental issues.

Consideration for this scholarship is given to high school seniors from agriculture-related families of the Upper Snake River Valley.
